The key to Success – You have to be Vigilant

In order to be successful, we must struggle to get beyond our weaknesses. It’s easy to be mediocre. It’s easy to sleep in and laze around all day, but is that really what gets us happiness? Isn’t it a MUCH better feeling when you’ve gotten up early, done everything you’ve supposed to do, maybe a bit extra and then go to bed at night, beat, but accomplished?

 

That’s what I’m talking about. In order to be successful at anything, we must endure. We must control our negative tendencies and increase our positive ones. Even if it hurts 🙂 For instance, if we want to lose weight, we’re going to have to do certain things each day to get there. We’re going to have to fit in some exercise, and we’re going to have to eat the right things – even when we don’t want to. Even when our mind is screaming for chocolate cake, we need to remain steadfast and have an apple. We need to keep track of our progress, so we can see what our efforts are doing for us. It helps us stay motivated and have reason to continue. And most importantly, we need to work on our mindset, so our old negative behaviours don’t creep in and sabotage our efforts.

Everything in this world is a give and take; you get out, what you put in. If you get up in the morning, laze around all day, thinking and talking about what you should have done, then chances are, you’re not going to get much out of life. Yes, you may have some short term satisfaction, but will you really accomplish your goals? Will you truly be happy? Ask yourself – if someone asks you “how are you?”, how do you respond? Is it positive? Would you say “I’m great” and honestly have no complaints? Or would you immediately jump to the problem areas of your life, talking about how you really should have done such and such, but just never did? Want that to change?
